Photoshoot with the Iconic Alma Sarhan
Costume Designer: Jennifer Williams of Blue Mantle Handmade
Photographer: Alma Sarhan
I arrived at Alma Sarhan’s studio for the very first time. Typical designer, her fence was so cool! It was a gloomy, rainy day and I had my hair tucked inside my Katmandu puffer. I opened the car door and the wind grabbed hold and propelled the door wide. I let out a little scream! My friend Ana-Maria jumped out of the car too and we scrambled towards the front gate.
Alma’s studio from the front looked like modern Australian, like a cool fortress. Stone rocks were piled up and contained within a metal casing to form a beautiful retaining wall to protect. I wasn’t feeling to crash hot in prep for the photoshoot with this weather, but as soon as I saw her fence I knew I’d be safe in there 😂
My eyes reach the large silver door and it swung wide open! A loud, red haired, familiar face smiling brightly hurried me inside.
I was in a safe haven. Alma made me feel comfortable and welcome in her space. I’m so glad I made the decision to go to her to photograph my mums latest costume design. The results speak for themselves. If you are in Perth, WA. You must book a shoot with Alma.
